Providing secular homeschooling support

Whether your family homeschools, unschools, uses public school, private school, virtual school, or some other form of learning, as parents, it is our job to facilitate our children’s learning and foster their love of learning. We’d love to make KC-CIRCLE a resource for families and educational other groups, but we need help from our participants to do that. If you’d like to share a story about a class you coordinated, about why learning is important to your family, or about another topic relevant to learning outside of a traditional classroom, we’ll host it as a post on our blog. Keep reading for details.

What Is/Is Not Accepted: Content & Accepted Topics

Feel free to submit a post on any topic relevant to our learning co-op or to family learning in general. Below are several topic ideas, but the list is not exclusive:

  • KC-CIRCLE classes (what, how, tips & tricks, etc.)
  • Learning at Home or Away
  • Unique Learning Methods
  • Learning in Your Family
  • Area Activities, Locations,  or Events Your Family has Enjoyed

Formatting and Editing Requirements

  • Posts are typically in the 300-600 word range, but that is a general guideline. Take as many (or as few) words as you need to tell your story, but consider breaking a really long post into multiple posts or even a “part 1” and “part 2” to keep readers coming back for more.
  • Proofread. Proofread twice. Now proofread one more time. We will edit all submissions, but we reserve the right to send it back to you for further proofreading if necessary.
  • All posts must be accompanied by a mini-bio (about 2 sentences, you can link to your personal site) and a picture. The picture cannot be more than 500px in width, and you must either own or have permission to use the picture. If it is a stock/free image, please provide a name/link to the owner. If you are using a picture of children from a KC-CIRCLE event, please get permission from parents to publish an image of their children. By submitting a picture to us for publishing, you are representing that you have all necessary permissions to use the image.
  • We reserve the right to edit (and veto) all submissions (but we will never make a substantive change without discussing it with you first).

Contributor Expectations

  • Writers are expected to visit/subscribe to the post to check on any comments, timely respond to comments, etc. If the writer has any questions or problems with a comment, please let us know as soon as possible.
